Writing the second book in the Royals of Marvidinia series has been an incredible journey, one that felt more like a conversation than a solo effort. As I worked through the chapters, the characters became so vivid and familiar that it often seemed they were guiding the story themselves. This post shares the experience behind the creation of Book 2, the challenges and surprises along the way, and what readers can expect when it releases.

Characters That Speak for Themselves
One of the most surreal parts of writing this book was how the characters seemed to take on lives of their own. I would plan a chapter carefully, outlining the events and scenes, then sit down to write. Suddenly, a character—usually King Maximo—would interrupt with unexpected dialogue or actions. When a king has something to say, you listen. This back-and-forth made the writing process feel like a collaboration rather than a solo task.
Chess and Nicco, the central characters, became as familiar to me as close friends. Their personalities, struggles, and growth shaped the story in ways I hadn’t fully anticipated. Writing about their fraught journey to a happy ending was both challenging and rewarding. It pushed me to explore deeper emotions and complex relationships, which I hope will resonate with readers.
The Planning and Writing Process
The process of writing Book 2 involved a mix of structured planning and spontaneous creativity. Here’s how I approached it:
Outline key events: I mapped out the major plot points and emotional beats for each chapter.
Leave room for surprises: While I had a roadmap, I allowed characters to steer scenes in new directions.
Daily writing goals: Setting achievable targets helped maintain momentum.
Revisiting earlier chapters: Sometimes, new ideas meant going back to tweak previous scenes for consistency. In some instances, I deleted large portions entirely if I felt they weren't useful in drive the story.
This balance between planning and flexibility kept the story fresh and engaging. It also made the writing process enjoyable, even when the plot took unexpected turns.
Editing and Feedback
Now that the manuscript is complete, it’s undergoing final editing and review by beta readers. This stage is crucial for refining the story, catching inconsistencies, and ensuring the pacing feels right. Feedback from trusted readers offers new perspectives that improve the book before publishing.
Publishing a book is more than just finishing the writing. It involves careful editing, formatting, cover design, and marketing to bring the story to readers in the best possible way. I’m grateful for the support of my beta readers and editors who help polish the final product.
What Readers Can Expect
Book 2 continues the Royals of Marvidinia series with deeper character development and more intense emotional moments. Chess and Nicco’s journey is filled with challenges, but also hope and growth. Fans of the first book will find familiar faces and new twists that add richness to the world.
The book is available now for preorder, with a release date set for July 20th. I can’t wait to share this story with you and hope you love Chess and Nicco as much as I do.
Final Thoughts on the Journey
Writing this second book has been a memorable experience that I will cherish. The way the characters came alive and guided the story made the process feel magical. Publishing this book is the next step in sharing that magic with readers.
